“Go home to nature and let nature heal you” Thich Nhat Hanh

Spring is very much here - even if the weather in the UK seems to be a bit on the fence about it… All around us the beautiful signs of spring bring a feeling of new beginnings, renewal, optimism and joy.

The power of nature in spring

I believe nature to be one of the greatest healers. It supports me by grounding me and helping me to find presence, balance, perspective and to tap deeply into my intuition. It is in nature where I do my best problem solving and creative thinking - both for me personally and in business.

To fully access the powers of nature, it is important that we deeply reconnect to it. An easy place to start is by zooming in on the nature around us - observing the wonders of our surroundings as they slowly transform through the seasons. To help you get started, here are some natural beauties that I love to zoom in on during the month of April in the UK - both on my walks in the local forests, woods and nature reserve, as well as through any glimpses I catch on my walks in town or through the window.

Tune into the birds singing

Listening to the sounds of the birds singing as you walk or through your window. Spring is the time for mating and marking territories, and so you will find the bird song at its most vibrant.

We’re also lucky to have a few woodpeckers in our neighbourhood adding some percussion in as they make their nests.

Look closer at the plants springing back to life

Observe the plants that are all around you as they spring back to life with their blossom and young leaves. Not just on your walks in nature, but everywhere that you go. For example, we have lots of cherry and plum trees along the streets near us, and there is a beautiful willow tree that hangs over into our garden. I love watching these everyday and in doing so watching its transformation through the seasons - at the moment with beautiful yellow blossoms and young green leaves.

In the Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle describes a simple exercise of ‘looking in a state of intense alertness at a flower’ to help you find presence. With the blossoms returning after winter, spring is a beautiful time to do this exercise - finding a moment of deep reconnection to the natural world.

Build deeper meaning and symbolism in what you are seeing

I am a big fan of what I call season synching, where you align your energy, activities and business planning to the seasons. It is something that I offer to my RE:CONNECT coaching clients whom are interested in working together on deepening their connection to nature. In aligning to the rhythms of nature, we form a deeper connection to our natural environment, as well as tapping into the wisdom of nature to create a new way of being that is truly aligned to you.

As you connect into the activity and rhythms of nature around you, journal on what this spring season means to you. For example, it could represent planting new seeds of opportunity, starting work on exciting new opportunities that you will reap the rewards for in summer and autumn.

I’ll be sharing the joys in nature for you to connect to at the start of each month. If you’re interested in working deeply with me on your transformation to a life of deeper joy, purpose, success, fulfilment, and flow, then get in touch to chat about my Re:Connect programme and other offerings.
